The Blaenavon Industrial Landscape has a wealth of opportunities for those wishing to explore the great outdoors! You can enjoy many outdoor activities in Blaenavon, often (but not always) linked to the industrial legacy of the area.

Walking is extremely popular and the picturesque landscape around Blaenavon caters for all, ranging from gentle strollers to energetic hill walkers. Be sure to collect a pack of specialised walk leaflets from the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre|, which will help you learn about the significant features of this special landscape.

Cycling| is also popular and part of the National Cycle Network (Route 46) runs through Blaenavon, commanding spectacular views of the Llwyd Valley. The Monmouth and Brecon canal| has been beautifully restored and is very popular with walkers and cyclists. Boats can also be hired, allowing you to peacefully explore the fantastic scenery.

The World Heritage Site can also cater for those with specialist interests. Hang-gliding and Paragliding are both extremely popular. The South East Wales Hang Gliding & Paragliding Club| controls flying at eighteen sites. And, hidden from view, a major cave system exists underground, which draws pot-holing enthusiasts from across the UK.
