View of Broad Street in Blaenavon

Town Walk

A guided walk of the town is available, for a small charge, from the Community Heritage Museum in Lion Street or the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre.

  • Enjoy a gentle circular walk of Blaenavon Heritage Town, picking out the many interesting buildings. As the iron and coal industries developed, so did the town with terraces of housing for colliers and ironworkers, churches and chapels, public buildings, including the impressive Workmen’s Hall (1894), and many shops and businesses.
  • The walk should take no more than an hour – unless you call into one of the shops or cafes for refreshments and chat with the locals.
