Have Your Say on the Draft Blaenavon Design Guidance & Draft Cwmavon Conservation Area Appraisals
Torfaen Council are appealing for residents views on studies relating to the World Heritage Site, including design guidance for development and Conservation Area Appraisals of Blaenavon and Cwmavon Conservation Areas. These studies will help assist in ensuring the continued protection and enhancement of the historic character of the World Heritage Site.
The Design Guide provides design and maintenance advice for buildings within the Torfaen boundaries of the World Heritage Site, including advice for the construction of new buildings, and guidance on alterations, repairs or extensions to existing buildings.
The Blaenavon & Cwmavon Conservation Area Appraisals identify the key assets and issues and outline recommendations for the management and enhancement of the areas in the future, recommending extensions to the Blaenavon Conservation Area at Ellick St, Alma St and Phillips St and Old Queen St. The study also recommends the potential designation of Conservation Areas at Forgeside and Glantorfaen.
The Authority is holding a 6 week public consultation on the proposals from Wednesday 18th November 2009 – Wednesday 30th December 2009 . All documents and details of the consultation including the public drop in session are available to view on the Torfaen County Borough Council| website.
