Booktown Blaenavon
Blaenavon is the home to Wales’s first book town which is concentrated along Broad Street within the small historic industrial town. Today Blaenavon’s traditional butchers and hardware shops sit alongside newer cafes, gift shops and a variety of quality second hand bookshops.
Booktown Blaenavon was founded by James Hanna of Booktown International and was launched on 28th June 2003 with the opening of ten bookshops on Blaenavon’s annual World Heritage Day.
Book lovers will enjoy delving into the shelves of Blaenavon’s bookshops which stock a wide range of titles covering
a wealth of subjects from natural history, photography, drama, poetry, history, children’s literature, local history, music and fiction titles. The bookshops are run by helpful and knowledgeable staff that are willing to help and search for titles if they are not in stock.
Blaenavon Booktown also holds an annual book festival in early spring. Visit the website for further details.
